SENIOR RESERVOIR ENGINEER
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Reservoir Engineer to support reservoir evaluation, dynamic modelling and field development decision-making across upstream oil and gas assets.
The role will focus on building and quality-assuring reservoir simulation models, conducting reservoir surveillance and performance analysis, developing production and depletion strategies, and providing technical input into field development, reserves and investment decisions.
The successful candidate will bring strong reservoir engineering expertise, sound technical judgement and the ability to integrate subsurface and production data to support safe, reliable and economically effective asset development.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, update, history-match and quality-assure reservoir simulation models and dynamic studies.
- Conduct material balance, pressure transient, decline curve and reservoir surveillance analyses to evaluate reservoir performance.
- Develop depletion strategies, production forecasts and reserves/resource estimates.
- Evaluate infill drilling, workover, well intervention and field development opportunities under uncertainty.
- Support Field Development Plans (FDPs), reserves reviews, business planning and investment decision processes.
- Integrate geological, petrophysical, production, pressure and well data to develop robust reservoir interpretations and recommendations.
- Provide reservoir engineering input and technical assurance throughout field development and production planning activities.
- Assess reservoir performance, identify production opportunities and recommend appropriate optimisation strategies.
- Perform uncertainty and risk analysis to support technical and commercial decision-making.
- Prepare clear technical reports, studies, presentations and recommendations for management and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- Participate in multidisciplinary technical reviews and contribute to effective resolution of reservoir and production challenges.
- Maintain appropriate technical documentation, models, assumptions and study results in accordance with company requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10–15 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry, with strong upstream Exploration & Production (E&P) exposure.
- Demonstrable experience in reservoir engineering, dynamic modelling, reservoir surveillance and production forecasting.
- Practical experience supporting field development, reserves evaluation and production optimisation activities.
- Strong understanding of reservoir engineering principles, field performance evaluation and uncertainty management.
- Good knowledge of applicable HSE requirements, operational controls, technical procedures and documentation standards.
- Membership of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) or relevant professional engineering body is desirable.
- A postgraduate qualification in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering or a related discipline will be an advantage.
Technical Expertise
- Reservoir simulation and dynamic modelling.
- Material balance and Pressure-Volume-Temperature (PVT) analysis.
- Reservoir surveillance and performance evaluation.
- Reserves and resources estimation.
- Production and depletion forecasting.
- Reservoir pressure and production data analysis.
- Field development planning and reservoir management.
- Infill drilling, workover and well intervention evaluation.
- Uncertainty, sensitivity and risk analysis.
- Integration of geological, petrophysical, well and production data.
- Technical assurance and multidisciplinary subsurface studies.
- Preparation of technical reports, economic inputs and management recommendations.
What We Value
- Strong safety mindset and personal accountability.
- Sound technical judgement and structured problem-solving ability.
- Analytical thinking and attention to technical detail.
- Ability to translate complex reservoir data into practical development and production recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and contractor environments.
- Strong planning, prioritisation and time-management skills.
- Ability to identify, communicate and escalate technical or operational risks appropriately.
- Integrity, professionalism and commitment to company procedures and technical standards.
HSE & Compliance
- Comply with applicable company HSE policies, procedures, Permit-to-Work requirements, risk assessments, isolation controls and emergency-response arrangements.
- Incorporate HSE, process safety and operational risk considerations into reservoir studies, recommendations and field development decisions.
- Identify and appropriately escalate technical, operational and asset integrity risks.
- Stop or escalate unsafe work and promptly report incidents, near misses, equipment defects and abnormal operating conditions where applicable.
- Maintain all required role-specific medical, safety and professional certifications throughout the assignment.
- Ensure all technical activities and recommendations are aligned with applicable regulatory requirements and approved company standards.
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to contribute to high-impact reservoir management, field development and production optimisation initiatives, working alongside multidisciplinary subsurface and engineering teams to support sound technical and investment decisions across upstream operations.
