OFFSHORE WELLHEAD TECHNICIAN
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and technically competent Offshore Wellhead Technician to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of wellhead and associated well-control equipment on offshore production platforms.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, inspecting, maintaining, and troubleshooting surface wellheads, Christmas trees, valves, actuators, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems, and associated equipment.
The role requires strong hands-on wellhead experience, sound understanding of well integrity and barrier management, and the ability to work safely in a demanding offshore production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, inspect, and maintain surface wellheads, Christmas trees, valves, actuators, and associated control systems.
- Perform routine pressure monitoring, leak checks, valve function tests, and wellhead integrity inspections.
- Support well start-up, shut-in, testing, pressure testing, intervention, and well integrity activities.
- Monitor wellhead conditions and identify abnormal pressures, leaks, equipment defects, or other well integrity concerns.
- Escalate abnormal well conditions in accordance with approved operating and well integrity procedures.
- Support maintenance and testing of hydraulic and pneumatic well-control systems.
- Execute wellhead activities in accordance with Permit-to-Work (PTW), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), isolation, SIMOPS, and offshore HSE requirements.
- Maintain accurate wellhead status, pressure, maintenance, inspection, and handover records.
- Support shutdown, intervention, commissioning, and equipment reinstatement activities as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 8–12 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry, with strong upstream E&P exposure.
- Proven hands-on experience working with wellhead and well-control equipment in comparable offshore production environments.
- Strong knowledge of wellhead operations, well integrity, pressure control, and associated maintenance practices.
- BOSIET/HUET and valid offshore medical certification are required.
- H2S certification is required.
- Well-control awareness or relevant well-control certification is desirable.
- Other relevant technical or professional certifications will be an added advantage.
Technical Expertise
The successful candidate should demonstrate practical and recent experience in:
- Surface wellhead and Christmas Tree systems.
- Wellhead valves, actuators, and pressure-control equipment.
- Well integrity and well barrier awareness.
- Pressure monitoring, pressure testing, and leak detection.
- Hydraulic and pneumatic well-control systems.
- Valve function testing and troubleshooting.
- Well start-up, shut-in, testing, and intervention support.
- Permit-to-Work (PTW), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and SIMOPS controls.
- Offshore HSE and emergency-response procedures.
- Wellhead inspection, maintenance, and technical reporting.

- Comply with all applicable HSE policies, procedures, Permit-to-Work requirements, risk assessments, isolation procedures, SIMOPS controls, and emergency-response arrangements.
- Follow approved well operating, well integrity, pressure-control, and maintenance procedures.
- Maintain effective awareness of well barriers and immediately report any indication of barrier degradation or abnormal well conditions.
- Apply appropriate isolation and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements where applicable.
- Stop or escalate unsafe work practices, well integrity concerns, leaks, abnormal pressures, or equipment defects.
- Promptly report incidents, near misses, equipment defects, and abnormal operating conditions.
- Participate in offshore emergency drills and maintain readiness for emergency situations.
- Maintain all required offshore medical, H2S, safety, technical, and professional certifications throughout the assignment.
